Unweit des Yachthafens Port Hercules des Fürstenstaats Monaco fand die Global Champions Tour wiederum eine reizvolle Umgebung. Die siebte Etappe (von 15) der weltweit höchst dotierten Springsportserie beendete Christian Ahlmann (Marl) als bester deutscher Reiter mit Platz zwei.

Italy’s Alberto Zorzi played the ace in Monaco with a spectacular Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix de Prince du Monaco Presented by Sapinda win. There was a shake up in the overall LGCT rankings after the competition result led to a re-shuffle at the top, putting Christian Ahlmann (GER) in the first spot.

Valkenswaard United took their third win of the Championship season so far, with Bertram Allen Izzy By Picobello and Eduardo Menezes with Caruschka taking pole position for the team at the stunning Monaco event.

Monaco Aces keep hold of their overall ranking lead with a tally of 217 points, with Valkenswaard United’s win today dramatically closing the gap to 214, just three points difference.

It was a spell-binding Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix du Prince de Monaco presented by Sapinda, with speed demon Emanuele Gaudiano (ITA) and his impressive grey horse Caspar 232 claiming top honours at the prestigious event after an incredible nine rider jump-off. Talking about what it means to win a LGCT Grand Prix, an elated Emanuele said: “For every rider to win a Grand Prix is good, but to win a Global Champions Tour Grand Prix is special – it’s amazing.” Compatriot Piergiorgio Bucci (ITA) took a strong silver medal with his horse Casallo Z, with the horse’s sire Casall ASK finishing in third with Swedish rider Rolf-Göran Bengtsson.

Christian Ahlmann weiterhin in der Gesamtwertung führend

Im Großen Preis von Monte Carlo in Monaco, zugleich neunte Etappe der diesjährigen Global Champions Tour (GCT), belegte Janne Friederike Meyer (Pinneberg) als beste deutsche Teilnehmerin Platz sechs.

Mit ihrem neunjährigen Hannoveraner Wallach Chuck (v. Cassus) lieferte Meyer im Stechen, das neun Paare nach zwei fehlerfreien Runden in den beiden Normalumläufen erreichen konnte, einen ebenfalls strafpunktfreien Ritt in 40,51 Sekunden ab.

Irish star Bertram Allen and his brilliant 12 year old grey mare Molly Malone V took the precedented Prix Massimo Dutti trophy this afternoon after a thirteen rider jump-off had the Monaco crowds on the edge of the seat during the fast paced round. The formidable combination took top honours in the 1.50/1.55m class, jumping double clear in an impressive 34.56s as the sun started its descent over the Port Hercule harbour.

The Monaco society was out in force for the first day of show jumping, with the event becoming a leading fixture in the Principality’s social calendar and was watched on by Prince Albert II of Monaco.
