A high-drama final CSI5* class of the 2017 Shanghai Longines Global Champions Tour sent temperatures soaring as Daniel Deusser (GER) won the Massimo Dutti Trophy in an incredible four rider jump-off.

Fans were treated to a phenomenal display of top show jumping from the world’s very best, as riders fought hard for a share of the €270,000 prize purse in a challenging course to finish the weekend of top sport and entertainment. With almost €1.5million on offer across LGCT and GCL throughout the weekend, the heavy-weight riders pulled out all the stops, with the Massimo Dutti Trophy a spectacular finish to the Shanghai leg of the Championship.

Lorenzo de Luca (ITA) rocketed to the top of the LGCT Rankings, after a stunning Grand Prix win at the Shanghai Longines Global Champions Tour today – his debut victory on the Tour. 

The Italian star has collected a tally of 100 points overall, knocking Martin Fuchs (SUI) from the lead and revving up the Championship fight. Maikel van der Vleuten (NED) has shot up to second, with another podium contributing to his score of 89 points. Scott Brash’s (GBR) solid consistency throughout the first three legs of the season was rewarded with a jump up to third place, where he sits on 75 points.

Der Triumph war zum Greifen nah: Marco Kutscher (Bad Essen) führte mit dem Hengst Van Gogh das Stechen des Großen Preises der Global Champions Tour in Shanghai fehlerfrei und in Bestzeit an. Doch dann unterbot als letzter Starter Abdullah Al Sharbatly aus Saudi Arabien die Zeit um drei zehntel Sekunden und schnappte Kutscher den Sieg und die 160.000 Euro Preisgeld vor der Nase weg.

It was another phenomenal round of intense action with the competition down to the wire in Shanghai as the Global Champions League made its fourth stop on the 2016 Championship. 25 year old Andreas Kreuzer (GER) teamed up with 27 year old David Will (GER) for the first time to represent the Cascais Charms and the pair delivered a flawless performance over the two round class to take a magnificent win. It was Andreas’ debut on the League, and speaking about the unique opportunity to compete on this level, Andreas said: “It’s an unbelievable experience for all of us. It’s a totally different feeling to ride in this type of competition.“
