Der Triumph war zum Greifen nah: Marco Kutscher (Bad Essen) führte mit dem Hengst Van Gogh das Stechen des Großen Preises der Global Champions Tour in Shanghai fehlerfrei und in Bestzeit an. Doch dann unterbot als letzter Starter Abdullah Al Sharbatly aus Saudi Arabien die Zeit um drei zehntel Sekunden und schnappte Kutscher den Sieg und die 160.000 Euro Preisgeld vor der Nase weg.

It was another phenomenal round of intense action with the competition down to the wire in Shanghai as the Global Champions League made its fourth stop on the 2016 Championship. 25 year old Andreas Kreuzer (GER) teamed up with 27 year old David Will (GER) for the first time to represent the Cascais Charms and the pair delivered a flawless performance over the two round class to take a magnificent win. It was Andreas’ debut on the League, and speaking about the unique opportunity to compete on this level, Andreas said: “It’s an unbelievable experience for all of us. It’s a totally different feeling to ride in this type of competition.“

A breathtaking Shanghai Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix jump off had fans on the edge of their seats as Abdullah Al Sharbatly (KSA) and Tobalio emerged victorious ahead of Marco Kutscher (GER) and Van Gogh, and Marc Houtzager (NED) with Sterrehof’s Calimero.

After the showcase competition it was revealed that Longines Global Champions Tour and partner Juss Event have signed a long-term agreement for the future of the event in Shanghai, which has become a dynamic fixture on the circuit’s international calendar.

The top three riders in the world will head to Shanghai, China, for the fourth leg of the 2016 Longines Global Champions Tour season. Truly global in every sense of the word, the world’s premier show jumping series will host what promises to be another spectacular event in Asia, bringing the top athletes in the sport to another unique city centre destination.

Following his silver medal success in Antwerp last weekend, World Number 1 Simon Delestre (FRA) will be in action with his fantastic chestnut gelding Chesall, and looking to capitalise on his run of form for the prestigious Grand Prix on Saturday. LGCT Ranking leader and World Number 2 Christian Ahlmann (GER) currently sits on 97 points, and with top horses Colorit and Taloubet Z shows strong intentions to further extend his Championship lead. Round four of the impressive season will see World Number 3 Scott Brash (GBR) bring in Hello Annie for the first time on the Tour, and with high action, drama and nail-biting jump-offs from just the first three legs of the series, LGCT Shanghai looks to be no exception with the promise of incredible sport all weekend.

The pace was electric at the climax of the $485,000 Grand Prix as eight riders won through to the jump off in the Chinese leg of the 2015 championship series.

Hours before the start of the Shanghai Longines Global Champions Tour, the event was hailed as a “significant” and “great” event for equestrianism in China. Daniel Deusser, Scott Brash, Ludger Beerbaum and Kent Farrington are all competing at the show ground next to the iconic China Art Pavilion. Chinese spectators will be able to experience the highest level of show jumping on international horses, all possible after a landmark agreement establishing a temporary quarantine zone.

Huge audiences across China will be able to watch live action on Chinese national TV networks from the Longines Global Champions Tour of Shanghai this weekend.

CCTV5 and CCTV5+, free-to-air channels reaching over 360 million people will be broadcasting over five hours of live coverage and highlights from the important 4th stage of the world’s premier show jumping championship series. The Tour is making its pit stop in China for the second year running after winning a landmark agreement to allow international sport horses to compete on the mainland.

Over 70 of the world’s top show jumping horses have arrived in Shanghai for the China leg of the Longines Global Champions Tour. The equine athletes travelled in first-class conditions on two specially commissioned horse flights from Europe and are now preparing for three days of elite showjumping competition starting on Friday 8th May. 250px-Union_flag_1606_(Kings_Colors)-502009 European Champion Kevin Staut (FRA) and Oh d’Eole won the CSI5* US$370,000 HuaTai-Pinebridge Shanghai Cup with a fantastic jump-off round to close the first incredible Longines Global Champions Tour of Shanghai with a real bang. Qatar’s star riders Bassem Hassan Mohammed with Primeval Dejavu and Sheikh Ali bin Khalid Al Thani with Vienna Olympic put in personal best performances to finish 2nd and 3rd respectively in a class full of the top names in show jumping.
