Global Champions Tour startete in die Saison 2016
Am Strand von Miami Beach im US-Bundestaat Florida feierte die Global Champions Tour ihren Saisonauftakt. Bei der ersten der insgesamt 15 Etappen ritt Christian Ahlmann (Marl) auf Platz drei. Es siegte die Australierin Edwina Tops-Alexander.
Beim Auftakt der weltweit höchst dotierten Springserie Global Champions Tour (GCT) gingen 50 Reiterinnen und Reiter, unter ihnen auch fünf Deutsche, an den Start. Die mit 500.000 US-Dollar Preisgeld (knapp 440.000 Euro) üppig ausgestattete Prüfung gewann die Australierin Edwina Tops-Alexander mit der Holsteinerin Lintea Tequila.

Global Champions League blasted off in 2016 in Miami Beach with a knife edge victory for the dynamic duo of John Whitaker (GBR) and Bertram Allen (IRL) in team Valkenswaard United.
It was a dazzling launch for the thrilling new competition format as some of the world’s top riders became team mates for the first time, propelling show jumping into a new era. Riders, fans and guests hailed the debut and spoke of its importance for the future of the sport.
Dutch champion Harrie Smolders, who jumped two clear rounds for team Antwerp Diamonds who are now in second place, said: “I think we saw some exciting sport and I think the Global has already done so much for our sport. They deserve our support and we are all going to make this into a successful story.”

It’s lift off for the new Global Champions League team competitions as riders gear up for the launch of the new championship.
At sunrise in Miami Beach team riders were out preparing for the first showdown of the 2016 GCL season with athletes – both human and equine – sporting their stunning new team colours with specially created logos.
Early morning passers by saw riders from the Monaco Aces and Doha Fursan Qatar limbering up on the sands of the iconic destination. The hotly-anticipated competition will feature two rounds with 12 teams starting in the first round and the best 8 teams going into the crucial second round.

Edwina Tops-Alexander (AUS) and her feisty 13 year old bay mare Lintea Tequila rode a stunning class to claim the top spot in the 2016 Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix of Miami Beach. Set against the backdrop of the iconic Miami Beach, equestrian enthusiasts and beach-goers packed the grandstand and lined the arena to watch the stars of show jumping battle it out as the 2016 season got underway.
International guests included Elle Macpherson, Sir Michael Caine, business tycoon and former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Senator Marco Rubio, and singer Iggy Azalea. The event is fast becoming a prestigious fixture on the local calendar with hundreds of guests, business leaders, and high class personalities enjoying chic hospitality and spectacular ocean views.

Daniel Deusser (GER) stole the show in today’s prestigious American Invitational CSI5* feature class with his beautiful bay gelding, the 13 year old Clintop 2. The exhilarating jump-off saw the top three riders cross the line all within sixth tenths of a second of each other, and all three clearing the field a full two seconds ahead of everyone else. As the sun began to set behind the iconic Miami Beach skyline, 47 of the world’s best horse and rider combinations took to the sand arena lined by enthusiastic spectators and fans. The picture perfect setting made for breath-taking images as the 1.50/1.55m class was streamed live around the world.

With the inaugural Global Champions League team competition just two days away, anticipation is growing as the first team photo of Miami Glory can be exclusively revealed. Georgina Bloomberg (USA), Scott Brash (GBR), Kent Farrington (USA), Kimberly Prince (USA) and Jessica Mendoza (GBR) of home team Miami Glory hit the stunning South Florida sands. Showcasing their new team polo shirts and colours, the five teammates posed next to the iconic Miami Beach lifeguard hut ahead of the debut Global Champions League event this Sunday 10th April.

The Longines Global Champions Tour of Miami Beach kicked off today on the breath-taking shoreline of Florida’s coast, with competitors, spectators and VIPs wowed by the incredible surroundings. The world’s best riders and horses flexed their muscles for the first time on the 2016 LGCT season circuit, with two CSI5* classes taking place in the opening day of top level competition.
World number 3 and Olympic gold medallist Scott Brash (GBR) summed up the incredible atmosphere; ‘to be on Miami Beach, and to ride with the ocean right there, it’s unique and special. Everyone wants to come to Miami Beach.”

Seven out of the world’s top ten riders will go into battle at the spectacular opening event of the 2016 Longines Global Champions Tour season in Miami Beach, USA.
The high calibre field of riders can be revealed today and promises a fantastic long weekend of top-level competition for fans and newcomers to the sport who will visit the unique showground next to the Atlantic Ocean shoreline.
The impressive line up includes last year’s LGCT of Miami Beach Grand Prix winner Scott Brash (GBR) and the highest ranked US riders Kent Farrington (World Number 3), McLain Ward (World Number 4) and Beezie Madden (World Number 8) at the launch of the 2016 circuit. Horses begin arriving today with just under a week to go until the event gets underway from 7th – 10th April.

GCT Miami Beach, Scott Brash gewinnt erste Etappe der GCT
Der Sieg in der ersten Etappe der aktuellen Global Champions Tour (GCT), ausgetragen beim Internationalen Springturnier (CSI*****) im US-amerikanischen Miami, ging an den Briten Scott Brash. Dem Sieger der Gesamtwertungen der beiden Vorjahre gelang mit seinem Wallach Hello Sanctos im Stechen eine Nullrunde in 38,57 Sekunden, was dem 29-Jährigen eine Prämie von 198.000 US-Dollar einbrachte.
